Monday, October 25, 2004 DreadsI've gotten Caught up in dread locks about 10 mins ago... Thanks to a certian someone... haha... Especially how ya make em... It's pretty kewl! Hahahaha... Lets see... I won't be very good at this but i'll try to explain eh? hahaha... So here goes..... -ahem.... It takes a lil wurk to make dreadlocks happen in straight hair, but you can handle it. I'll try to give you some tips and instruction and see if I can help you sport some phatty dreadlocks asap! Dreadlocks are prolly the koolest hair style ever. Chicks dig'em on dudes, Dudes are all about'em on Chicks... theyre just pretty kool... First of I gotta say that dreadlocks are not dirty like sum missled peoples believe. Sure, they can be dirty, but so can you hair when its straight. It's just a matter of how you take care of it. You can use dread wax to start your dreads and they will be totally washable. No need to let that shizz get all rank. Dreadlocks actually tighten faster when you keep'em clean. There's two things that you never ever wanna submit your dreadies to: Conditioners or Combing.. After you start your dreads you won't comb or brush your hair, the idea of a dreadlock is that the hair gets tangled and knotted, then after a lil while the knots get tighter and smooth out into a dread. You can help this process a lot by 1) knotting the hair up to start -and- 2) Using the right stuff to hold the knots together in that crucial time when they are "locking up". The knotting can be done with a fine tooth comb, any will wurk as long as its really strong. Metal pet combs are great cuz they won't break no matter how hard you pull on'em. The proccess of dreading up this hair, or knotting it up really, (the dreadlocks happen after you wax it) is called backcombing. You backcomb the hair by grabbing a bundle of it (usually about the size of ur finger) and sliding the comb tward your head. You bunch up the hair as tight as you can get it. Its best to have a friend help you. Its even better if ur friends gettin dreads too. That way you can help each other out. So you tangle the hair up with tha comb like you are teasing it but you pack it in real tight. It's ok if you don't totally understand this cuz I'll have a link to a page where its explained really well later, this is just to give you the jist of the whole dreads making process. So you get it knotted up into a shape that looks like a dreadlock, it's knot really a dreadlock yet though. Dreads take time, this is preparing your hair to dread. Dredlocks cannot be made overnight, no matter what you do you'll need to give the hair time before it will form dredlocks. Dredlocks is a process and these methods make dredlocks turn out great over and over. If you do this stuff right you're gunna have sweet ass lookin dreadlocks in about 4 or 5 weeks. If you just leave the hair alone and don't wash it or comb it, hoping it will turn into dredlocks, it usually takes about 7 to 8 months before you have dreads. You'd prolly end up cutting it all off long before that thought cuz it would look frizzy and wack the whole time and itch like a bitch cuz you didn't wash it. So the secret is use dread wax. Using the wax you can keep them clean and they will look good while they are locking...and of course they lock way faster. One quick caution to all you cats runnin for the toothpaste right now... Don't play scientist with your hair. You can really damage your scalp by experimenting with random house hold products trying to make dreads. People try peanut butter, toothpaste, eggs, polyurithane, gum, normal beeswax, honey, mollasses, and about a zillion other things... none of the shit works and its makes your head nasty and itchy. Some things will actually dammage your hair folicles and you'll go bald at 25..don't play, use only approved hair products. The best one by far is called Dread Head. They make other stuff thats good for dreads too like dread soap, and somthin to help your dreads tighten faster. But any way, back to our story... After you get the hair knotted into the shape that you want you put rubberbands on each dredlock. Put one on the tip(end) of each dreadlock and one on the root)base of each dread. The root one you'll take off in a few weeks, the tip one you can leave on there, the dredlock will swallow it as it grows and leave you with a nice round tip. Ok, now you gett'em secured, its time to wax'em up. Use a hair dryer to heat the dreads as ya wax them. This way the wax melts into the dread where it does the most good and the out side of the dreadlock won't feel waxy. Take about 1/2 a finger tip full and squeeze and rub and twist it into each dredlock. Keep goin till you got all the dreadlocks waxed. Ok, so you got a phatty head-o-locks, now what...well DUH..go sport'em! If you used a quality wax they should look cool as hell right after you do'em so go clubbin or sumthin and show'em off! So how about taking care of your new dreadlocks? Well thats not to hard either, you need to keep them clean...wash them about every 5 days or so. Put a panyhose nylon over your head while you wash them for the first few weeks. Wash them through the nylon with it on you head the whole time. This will keep the dreads from loosening, dreadlocks are delicate for the first month or so. What you wash them with is really important. Some shampoos and soap have conditioners, moisterizers and other additives to make the hair smell like apples or feel soft.....well all that stuff really sux for dreadlocks. Things that the soap leaves behind can build up inside of you dreds and loosen them over time. Eventually it can evern destroy the locks you wurked so hard for. What you need to get is a soap that doesn't leave anything behind in your hair. The HQ has some soap that wurks great on dreadlocks. Its very approprately called dread soap. It's good stuff. Whatever you do, don't ever use conditioners on your locks, it will kill'em fast. There are a few things you can do to help your dreads tighten faster. First and foremost is of course Twistin'&Rollin'. The more you twist and roll your dreads between you fingers and palms, the faster they will tighten. Do it all the time... twist those dredlocks ridin in the car, twist those dreadlocks sittin in class, twist those dredlocks while youre crappin' aroun on tha net, twist those dredlocks while youre fallin asleep... you get the idea. One thing that wurks really well for tightening dredlocks is the ocean. Dunk your dreadlocks twice a week if you can. Dunk'em and let them dry in the sun... it helps sooo much. If you don't have an ocean handy you can get stuff called "locking accelerator". It works just as good or better than the ocean and you don't even have to get sand in your undies.... Ah well............ Omg! I just typed a whole entry on dreadlocks?!!!! What is Wrong with me?!!!I have no intention on doing dreads tho.... I am so weird... So yea.... Happy Trying!!! -katz
Sunday, October 17, 2004 Feeling betterThis is so amazing... I ACCTUALLY am feeling better... things have been so screwed up lately... Ah well.. Life HAS got it's ups and down's... This yr's proberbly been the most crappy for me.... Ah well... I gotta deal with it... Ryan (bro) is gonna teach me how ta play snooker and pool... He's great at those kinda games... He said he'll teach me how ta trash guys too... Which i totally don't think is possible coz I tried yesterday and i Suck at it... Holi's r cummin! and my mom's not been letting me go out alone due to *ahem* some reasons.... SO i hope she'll change her mind by e holi's... Going out with cecilia! I so haven't seen her for such a long time.... Unforgettingly... I'm going to see 'a sharks tale' too... with Nathalie, Angeline, Clarissa n Tara maybe... not too sure... But maybe these holi's will be unforgettable... Like This yr.... Totally Drama packed.... and you know what i realised?... I've lost my paintbrush... Bloody hell... It's one of tjose paintbrushes with the camel hair crap that's so expensive too... ARGH!... this so sux.... I've given Lynette back her Jacket yesterday... She, son n me are So gonna go shopping during e holi's... I hopefully will find a black skirt... Somthing which I've been wanting since forever.... Ah well.... With pleats or none are good... I just want a bloody Black skirt... Ya'll know what I found out? Beckham is having an affair with his wife's beautician.... how Screwed up can that possiby get?! my gawd... he so sucks..... N He's balding too!... Proberbly due to the use of too much Gel in his hair... Stupid freak.... He used to be real good last time in Man U... now he's old n stuff... so i guess some of his talent has flown away... WHy on earth am I talking about a soccer player?!!! What is Wrong With me?!!! Thursday, October 07, 2004 The Titanic Walnut...Heya peeps... been writting loads in my pinkish book n stuffaroo lately, sometimes i forget i even have a bloody blog in the first place... Well today was history exam... totally n extremely crapified. Everyone said it was tough and my mom simply refuses to believe me... ah well... Chinese listening was even worse... i didn't even understand the whatever they said and practically only the last story which was about a boy and a swan -rolls eyes*... Newae... after school n all Tara, Angeline, Nelly, Clarissa n i went to 'Haagen Dazs' to eat n all... That was really funny.... I tried to hide from Tara n Nelly in order to scare em but in the end I got a scraped Knee and a cut on my finger coz i fell down... bwahahahhaa - shoots self in head*... then we took a bus to siglap n all And Everyone had a hard hard choice on asking where to eat... And everyone made a racket of noise while i was talking to my momma... so we ended up at Haagen Dazs where it was so high class n all but we noisey ppl were making so much of noise... we had Brownies with vanilla n butterscotch icecream, Waffels with Chocolate ice-cream n choc fudge n walnuts n whipped cream, there was a bananna split with three different kinds of ice-cream And the was a mega milkshake with ice-cream n whipped cream n all... haha... Gosh... We're all gonna get fat... hahaha... well after the remaining ice-cream had melted... It sorta became an ice cream soup which flooded the plate haha... Nathalie started playing with it and I added the walnut as a boat on the Melted Ice-cream So we played..... "Titanic!!!" hahhaa.... Typical Immature Kcians.... We wanted to Take photo's too but we didn't have a camera... So we used Angeline's Phone and Damn was it hard! haha... We had to stick the phone in between the two chairs n use the timer thingy... occasionally causing us to look weird after posing for 10 seconds... Cheekbones Hurt... haha... Then all Five of us squished into the toilet and Finally we managed to take a decent photo of all of ourselves with the help of the mirror... haha.... That's proberbly the first meal we all had together other than School food or mac's... hahahaha... well, we're all going out together after exams next thursday... hahaha... n spending so quality Girl time together... Wheeeeeee!!! hahaha... I went to kims house for an hour coz the was no tution and i called my dad n all... She, Ian n I Were using the seeds of some tree and Throwing em to each other n the person holding the plastic bottle was supposed to hit the seeds with the bottle n all that rubbish... hahahhahaa..... Then we had to hula hoop across the road, touch the green gate, skip 5 times, Run to the black gate, hula-hoop back across the road n touch kims neighbours house, then back to kims house - weirdo's.... hahaha... but today was fun... Spent loads of quality time with my gal friends n all... hahaha.... Something i haven't done in sometime i suppose that's why it feels good hahaha.... ah well... can't wait for exams to be over.... n there are 23 days till i can collect my hp... ahahha... Ah well... I hope to slack n drink more.... catch up with those peeps who i haven't exactly been seeing but who've played important roles in my life such as Marvin n Cecilia n all.... hahhaa... Got 2 concerts ta go to during the holiday's too... wheeeeeeeee! ah well i gtg i suppose... seeya'll round... The Joyful Mysteries
